Carrick on Shannon is a thriving county town, steeped in history. It offers a wide variety of restaurants, cafés, and entertainment including lively traditional music sessions by many talented musicians.
Walk through the town to discover interesting historical buildings, such as Costello Chapel – possibly the smallest chapel in Europe. The Dock, a wonderfully restored 19th Century former courthouse, is now an integrated centre for the arts and home to The Leitrim Design House. Take a stroll on the boardwalk towards the Marina and People’s Park.
Summer is full of lively events, with Carrick Carnival, a festival of fun held for 10 days every June bank holiday weekend. The impressive Shannon Regatta is held in July each year.
